He would say: ‘When one of you intends a matter, let him pray two units other than the obligatory prayer, then say: O Allah, I seek Your guidance through Your knowledge and seek ability through Your power, and I ask You of Your immense bounty. You have power and I do not; You know and I do not; You are the Knower of all unseen things. O Allah, if You know that this matter’—then name the matter—‘is good for me in my religion, my livelihood, and the outcome of my affairs’—or he said, ‘in the near and distant future’—‘then decree it for me, make it easy for me, and bless it for me. If You know that this matter is bad for me in my religion, my livelihood, and the outcome of my affairs’—or he said, ‘in the near and distant future’—‘then turn it away from me and turn me away from it. Decree goodness for me wherever it may be, then make me content with it.’

Supplication when entering the marketplace

There is no deity except Allah alone, without partner. His is the dominion and His is all praise. He gives life and causes death, and He is Ever-Living and never dies. All good is in His hand, and He has power over all things. (Allah records one million good deeds for him, erases one million sins, and raises him one million degrees. In another narration: He builds a house for him in Paradise.)

In the name of Allah. O Allah, I ask You for the good of this marketplace and the good within it. I seek refuge in You from its evil and the evil within it. O Allah, I seek refuge in You from making a sinful oath here or a losing bargain.
After committing a sin or an act of disobedience

The Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings be upon him, informed us: ‘No servant commits a sin, performs ablution well, then stands and prays two units and asks Allah's forgiveness for that sin, except that Allah forgives him.’
Supplications upon hearing animal sounds

Upon hearing a rooster crow: ‘O Allah, I ask You of Your bounty.’ ‘When you hear a rooster crow [at night], ask Allah of His bounty, for it has seen an angel. When you hear a donkey bray, seek refuge in Allah from Satan, for it has seen a devil.’ Agreed upon by Al-Bukhari and Muslim.

Supplication at the crowing of a rooster, the braying of a donkey, and the barking of dogs: ‘I seek refuge in Allah from Satan, the accursed.’

‘When you hear dogs barking and donkeys braying at night, seek refuge in Allah, for they see what you do not see.’ Authentic (Sahih Sunan Abi Dawud 3/961).
The foremost supplication for forgiveness

O Allah, You are my Lord; there is no deity except You. You created me and I am Your servant. I remain faithful to Your covenant and promise as best I can. I seek refuge in You from the evil I have done. I acknowledge Your blessings upon me and acknowledge my sin, so forgive me, for none forgives sins except You.

Shaddad ibn Aws, may Allah be pleased with him, reported that the Prophet, peace and blessings be upon him, said: ‘The foremost supplication for forgiveness is for a servant to say: O Allah, You are my Lord; there is no deity except You. You created me and I am Your servant. I remain faithful to Your covenant and promise as best I can. I seek refuge in You from the evil I have done. I acknowledge Your blessings upon me and acknowledge my sin, so forgive me, for none forgives sins except You.’ Whoever says it during the day with certainty and dies that day before evening will be among the people of Paradise. Whoever says it at night with certainty and dies before morning will be among the people of Paradise. Narrated by Al-Bukhari.
Supplication when feeling pain in the body

Place your hand on the painful part of your body and say ‘In the name of Allah’ three times. Then say seven times: ‘I seek refuge in Allah and His power from the evil of what I feel and what I fear.’
What to say and do after committing a sin

It was narrated that Abu Hurairah said: "The Messenger of Allah [SAW] said: 'Allah, the Mighty and Sublime, has guaranteed to the one who goes out in His cause, 'and he does not go out for any other purpose except Jihad in My cause and faith in Me, believing in My Messengers, but he is guaranteed that I will admit him to Paradise or I will send him back to his dwelling from which he set out, having acquired whatever he acquired of reward or spoils of war.'"
