O Allah, Knower of the unseen and the seen, Originator of the heavens and the earth, Lord and Sovereign of all things, I bear witness that there is no deity except You. I seek refuge in You from the evil of my own soul, from the evil of Satan and his call to associate partners with You, and from bringing harm upon myself or causing it to a Muslim.
O Allah, I submit myself to You, entrust my affairs to You, turn my face toward You, and rely upon You for support, in hope of You and in fear of You. There is no refuge and no escape from You except with You. I believe in Your Book which You sent down and in Your Prophet whom You sent.

Cup both hands together, blow lightly into them, and recite into them: ‘Say: He is Allah, the One,’ ‘Say: I seek refuge in the Lord of daybreak,’ and ‘Say: I seek refuge in the Lord of humankind.’ Then wipe as much of the body as possible, beginning with the head, face, and front of the body.
Surah Al-Baqarah: I seek refuge in Allah from Satan, the accursed.

The Messenger believes in what has been sent down to him from his Lord, as do the believers. Each believes in Allah, His angels, His books, and His messengers. ‘We make no distinction between any of His messengers.’ They say: ‘We hear and obey. Grant us Your forgiveness, our Lord; to You is the final return.’ Allah does not burden any soul beyond its capacity. It will receive the good it has earned and bear the evil it has earned. ‘Our Lord, do not take us to task if we forget or make a mistake. Our Lord, do not place upon us a burden like the one You placed upon those before us. Our Lord, do not burden us with what we cannot bear. Pardon us, forgive us, and have mercy upon us. You are our Protector, so grant us victory over the disbelieving people.’ [Al-Baqarah 2:285–286]
Whoever recites two verses from the end of Surah Al-Baqarah at night, they will suffice him.
Ayat al-Kursi: I seek refuge in Allah from Satan, the accursed.

Allah—there is no deity except Him, the Ever-Living, the Sustainer of all. Neither drowsiness nor sleep overtakes Him. To Him belongs all that is in the heavens and all that is on earth. Who can intercede with Him except by His permission? He knows what is before them and what is behind them, and they encompass nothing of His knowledge except what He wills. His Footstool extends over the heavens and the earth, and preserving them does not tire Him. He is the Most High, the Magnificent. [Al-Baqarah 2:255]
He is protected from the jinn until morning.

Remembrance for one who is restless in bed and cannot sleep

Buraydah, may Allah be pleased with him, reported: Khalid ibn Al-Walid, may Allah be pleased with him, complained to the Prophet, peace and blessings be upon him: ‘Messenger of Allah, I cannot sleep at night because of insomnia.’ The Prophet said: ‘When you go to bed, say: O Allah, Lord of the seven heavens and all they shade, Lord of the earths and all they bear, and Lord of the devils and all they mislead, be my Protector against all Your creatures, lest any of them harm or wrong me. Mighty is Your protection and exalted is Your praise. There is no deity other than You; there is no deity except You.’

‘Amr ibn Shu‘ayb reported from his father, from his grandfather, that the Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings be upon him, used to teach them these words against fright: ‘I seek refuge in the perfect words of Allah from His anger, the evil of His servants, the incitements of devils, and their presence.’
Remembrance concerning dreams

Abu Qatadah, may Allah be pleased with him, reported that the Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings be upon him, said: ‘A righteous dream’—and in another narration, ‘a good dream’—‘is from Allah, and a disturbing dream is from Satan. Whoever sees something he dislikes should blow lightly to his left three times and seek refuge from Satan; it will not harm him.’

Hadith
It has been narrated on the authority of 'Abdullah b. 'Umar who said: I was present with my father when he was wounded. People praised him and said: May God give you a noble recompense! He said: I am hopeful (of God's mercy) as well as afraid (of His wrath) People said: Appoint anyone as your successor. He said: Should I carry the burden of conducting your affairs in my life as well as in my death? (So far as Caliphate is concerned) I wish I could acquit myself (before the Almighty) in a way that there is neither anything to my credit nor anything to my discredit. If I would appoint my successor, (I would because) one better than me did so. (He meant Abu Bakr.) If I would leave You alone, (I would do so because) one better than me, i. e. the Messenger of Allah (ﷺ), did so. 'Abdullah says: When he mentioned the Messenger of Allah (ﷺ) I understood that he would not appoint anyone as Caliph.
